Keep Water Out Of Ears When Swimming

17.David Bowie: "When I'm Five / The London boys"

Single released by Decca in August 1968 in the Philippines, it is a single semi-legal in that country as subsidiaries the labels release singles at will, using new material and mixing it with older versions (something similar happened with The Beatles). It is for this 7 ", Bowie had finished his relationship with Dram (Decca subsidiary) and the recording of" When I'm Five "was owned by the BBC, but even so the single is released with" The London boys "on side B, the same version that had accompanied the" Rubber Band "in December 1966.

"When I'm Five" was recorded as four issues, the May 13, 1968 for the Top Gear program on BBC show that was broadcast on May 26 and repeated June 20 of that year. Bowie is accompanied by "Tony Visconty Orchestra, which included Herbie Flowers on bass, Barry Morgan on drums, John McLaughlin on guitar, Tony Visconti and Steve Peregrine-Took on backing vocals and session musicians without credit in the strings. The recording was directed and produced by Tony Visconti, who would become a regular contributor to David from now on.

In 1969 "When I'm Five" is included in the promotional film "Love you till Tuesday", whose soundtrack is newly published in 1984 by Decca.

addition to the BBC version there are two demos of Bowie, one probably in early 1968, printed on acetate and circulating among fans and collectors and a 1969 recording with John Hutchinson is included in several bootlegs.

* "The London boys" is included in the No. 9 post, so it was not incorporated into this file.
